For those of you who are unfamiliar with this term, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. The goal of this is to write 50,000 words in one month. NaNoWriMo takes place in November and thousands of writers around the world participate.

This year will be my first time doing NaNo, and I’m super excited! I’ve talked about it with my friends constantly and I’ve even convinced one of them to do NaNo with me! There are still two months left before NaNoWriMo, so now is the time to plan your novel! Get your plot, characters, and everything else in order!

Now some of you are probably thinking, “Yeah you’ll get 50,000 thousand words, but will they be any good?”. This isn’t the point of NaNo. The goal is to get the words out onto the page or screen, not worrying about quality. Write now, edit later.

I find it very convenient that NaNo happens right after Halloween. That means you have a bunch of sweet treats to munch on while writing. Fuel! Okay not really fuel, just delicious sugar that will help you power through the late nights.

When you reach November, you write as often as you can for as long as you can. There are late nights, early mornings, and hundreds of cups of tea and coffee. Word count goals, aching wrists, and it feels like your fingers are going to fall off. Get ready for NaNoWriMo people!
